Vision & Mission

To be recognized as the leader in resilient building and community design in hurricane, flood, and tornado regions of the United States and the Caribbean. The Bourne Group

Our Mission
To create and restore resilient buildings and communities in areas most vulnerable to severe natural disasters—so people can return, rebuild, and thrive. The Bourne Group

What Makes Us Different

We start with listening
For every project, we begin by listening to residents, community leaders, and stakeholders. We use structured workshops and conversations to understand what was lost, what must be protected, and what can be improved.

We design with and for the community
Our community-engaged design process brings together residents, leaders, stakeholders, and other professionals in a collaborative effort—so every renovation addresses urgent needs, solves real challenges, and restores spaces with lasting beauty, safety, and pride. The Bourne Group

We preserve and strengthen existing communities
We prioritize the preservation and enhancement of existing neighborhoods—renovating historic buildings, revitalizing public spaces, and improving accessibility, safety, and sustainability in the urban fabric. The Bourne Group

We stay involved beyond the ribbon-cutting
Our role does not end at completion. We build long-term relationships, remain engaged with the communities we serve, and adapt to evolving needs and conditions over time. The Bourne Group

Our Story of Resilience

Over the years, The Bourne Group has built a reputation for excellence, trust, and community partnership. The Bourne Group

Our roots include decades of work in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where we have helped communities rebuild after numerous major hurricanes. That experience—with 12 hurricanes across residential, commercial, and institutional renovations—shapes how we think about resilience, codes, and community recovery today. The Bourne Group

This lived experience means we understand:

  • The urgency of getting people safely back into homes, schools, and workplaces
  • The emotional and cultural loss that disasters create
  • The importance of designs that are buildable, code-compliant, and adaptable over time
